Bangkok Part 1

After a few days in Hong Kong, we flew to Bangkok, Thailand!  It was a much needed change of scenery, but more importantly change of temperature.  I have never been so happy to get off of a plane and feel the heat immediately hit me.  Let's just say I was not meant to live in cold climates.  Anyways, after landing at the airport and eating a delicious doughnut, we headed to our hostel in none other than a hot pink taxi!  I loved it!  Why doesn't every country have bright colored taxi like this?
Speaking of transportation, I think we set a new record for various methods of getting from one place to another.  Here's the list of every type we used over a 3 week period: cars, trains, subways, taxis, vans, tuk tuks, long-tail boats, row boats, speed boats, kayaks, elephants, airplanes, sky trains (above ground subway system), and a trolley.

Anywho, we got all settled in at the hostel then headed out for dinner.  We were in search of the famous Khao San Road and thought we had found it!  Later on we realized, Khao San Road was one block further than where we were.  Whoops!  The street we found was amazing with so many neat Thai restaurants and touristy shops.  We ate at a place called Macaroni Grill.  The atmosphere was really neat and great place to start our trip in Thailand.

Smoothies became an everyday occurrence. They were delicious, especially the pineapple ones! Yum

My first Thai dish included fried rice with shrimp.  It was so good and the shrimp in Thailand were much tastier than China!

After dinner, we walked around a bit and found a temple.  We went to several temples while in Thailand and Hong Kong.

In most of the temples, you had to take off your shoes to go inside or to the inner parts.  Here is Lesley and Aaron with their bare feet by the temple.

The first of many elephant statues I took a picture of/with.  If you don't know, elephants are my favorite animal and have been since I was a little girl.  This is another reason why I loved Thailand so much because they love elephants as well and they are everywhere!

Lesley and I decided it was necessary to have dessert after dinner every night.  I mean we were on vacation!  We found this dessert made by a street vendor.  It's basically a crepe, filled with bananas and covered with Nutella. Literally, heaven in my mouth!

The next morning, Lesley and I got up for an early breakfast on what we thought was Khao San Road again. haha We each had a strawberry smoothie and banana french toast!

After breakfast, we decided to take a tuk tuk to get to the other part of the city.  This is a picture of a tuk tuk.  It was fun to ride on and our driver was very nice!

After walking about a bit in another area of the city, taking a nap in a shopping mall, and eating another doughnut, we decided to take a long tail boat ride up the Chao Phraya River.
